Plans for South Chamblee Park move forward

Efforts for a new community pocket park on the south side of Chamblee continue to move forward as staff presented the proposed site plan at Thursday evening’s Council Work Session. The Parks & Rec Director worked with Kimley Horn to gather input from the community and City Council to arrive at this design. Staff intends to include the construction of this project in the 2025 operating budget, and hope to see construction begin by mid-year. The property for this park was purchased by the city in the fall of 2023. Work on the site since that time has included surveying, removing dangerous trees and trash throughout the site, and completing demolition of the dilapidated house that was present.
