Can I count on you this November?

elveith

Two years ago I decided to run for the newly created District 4 Council seat here in Chamblee. I thought I knew what I was getting into, but I underestimated what serving on our City Council would mean. These last two years have been immensely rewarding work for me, more than a few challenges along the way. What I get from the work is what drives me to do it again. Consider this the kickoff for my campaign to continue as Chamblee’s District 4 Council Member.

Over the next few months, I will be getting out to see as many of you as I can, to find out what you feel is being done well in Chamblee and what you think needs more attention. I have my own ideas about what we are doing well and where we can put more effort, but I want to make sure I represent your views and ideas when I weigh in on the City’s efforts to continue growing Chamblee into the best City in the metro area.

I am running again because I am just getting started. I created a set of goals for myself in 2021 and I have advanced on some. I have set the groundwork to start creating the concrete outcomes that come from good planning. I want to continue working to make those things, and many more, reality for all of us. I can do that if you help me be re-elected to the District 4 Council seat.

The last two years have been busier than I thought they could be. In that time, I have been involved with planning many projects and initiatives around the city. In the area around my own home in this part of the city, I am proud to have helped get the stream bank stabilization project completed in Dresden Park. By this time next year my family will be able to enjoy a brand-new Dresden Park alongside our neighbors and community.

In other parts of the city, I am looking forward to taking my bicycle out on the newest sections of the Chamblee Rail Trail through our downtown area this fall, and can’t wait until we have even more of it built. Enjoying concerts and festivals hosted at our new City Hall has been a pleasure, and I know the City’s events team has even more in store for all of us in that area.

There has been a tremendous amount of time and effort put into projects that don’t show up as you walk around the community, at least not yet. The work I have been able to do as part of the City’s Housing Committee has been gratifying. Finding answers to how we create more affordable housing around Chamblee is a big issue, and I think we are starting to find some answers. Creating a Master Plan for Paths and Trails is a project that is near and dear to my heart and represents a big step forward on one of the goals I set when I first ran for this office. The vision is long, but I will continue pushing to turn it into reality wherever we can.

Election Day is November 7th with early voting beginning on October 16th. Between now and then there is a lot of work to do. I’m ready for it, and I hope you will support me along the way. I look forward to seeing you out on the campaign trail. Elmer

Want to support my campaign, but not sure what you can do? It’s easier than you think. Talk to your neighbors about why you are supporting me, put up one of my yard signs, host a meet and greet with your neighbors. Last but not least, please consider making a donation to my campaign fund. Even local elections take funding, and every dollar helps. Follow this link to make a donation today.
